"MontegoMan562 is a Capri RS Owner" (montegoman562)

OK guys, this is something I see on SO MANY cars and it infuriates me.
I understand that it's cheaper to have one headliner/pillar color for the interiors, it pisses me off when I get in a car with black/dark interior and the roof and pillars are tan, but I get it.
What REALLY sets me over the edge is what GMC is doing with the interior of the Canyon, a truck I am head over heels in love with and want to buy the next time I buy a vehicle.
Look at these two pictures. The headliner/pillars don't match EITHER of the interior colors. What the hell was the point of picking that color for the top? At least pick ONE to match!!!
Does this drive you guys as crazy as it does me??

I think it matches well actually.
The top one more.
I like darks and lights together, makes the interior look better to me.

If they had some features of the color maybe in the seats as inserts or the door panels it would be fine, but it's so cut off and separated...drives me batty.

I see what you mean
My cobalt is black and a sort og grey color . So it looks good.
You can always add those little trip colors on your own

I only prefer black headliners now...
Tan just says "Helloo 80s"

I suppose I could. I for some reason never think of the interior as something you can customize. But you're right I could.
It kills me in my Mercury Milan, black seats/interior. Tan headliner/pillars.

To me it says "Helloooo cheap!"
Because we were too cheap to do the headliner as the same color as the rest of your interior.

Cheap and/or lazy.
Its little details like this that you ask "how could they forget?"

To me black and anything go together.
I can oversee interior downfalls if I love the car or truck.
You spend a lot of time inside the truck but how often will you just stare at the headliner thinking you made a big mistake. haha
I'd just get soem color matched door inserts if possible, or pop the currnet ones out and have them wrapped or painted professionally. As plastic is a bitch

Lighter colored pillars and headliners give the feel of more space.
If you want darker pillars, just put in a roll-cage...

I think it's even worse on luxury cars/trucks.
We all know the GMC only exists to be more "Upscale". To me it would really push me into the GMC if they finished the interior in great detail.

The exterior has me sold on this thing, and the rest of the interior looks great.
I do every once in a while sit down in my car and go wtf were they thinking with this pillar/headliner color in an all black interior!?
I also spend over an hour each way in my car for a long commute to and from work.

Even on a long commute I'm so focused on the road and busy trying to not stall in straffic I don't find time to look around and wonder what GM was doing when they put my car together haha
All I see is a leather wrapped steering wheel a black face gauge cluster and the road.

Wait.
I'm supposed to focus on the road during my commute?
I've been doing it wrong for so long....

Haha.
No staring at the interior and playing bumper cars.
You can't drive by braille in a brand new truck like that xD
With my my cars are so picky and tempermental they will stall if they like the spot they are in.
And the Cobalt has such a heavy clutch in it that its a nightmare trying to drive in traffic with it.

I'm okay with GM existing just to be more upscale, because the exterior isn't as rigidly tied to the Chevy "let's relive the 90's version of this truck as interpreted by 2005 Ford" aesthetic. That being said, I agree they need to get their shit together.

It is kind of a trade-off.
The grey headliner and upper pillars give the interior enough reflected light that it doesn't feel like a cave.
But they become more visually present. You notice them a little bit more.
Darker gray or black tends to disappear more, but the interior, especially if otherwise dark gray or black also, starts to look really dark, regardless of day or night.
However...
The pillar covers (and the headliner, if you get ambitious enough) are removable, and can be painted with fabric-specific paint/dye.

Aaaand that's why I drive automatic. I have a 52ish mile round trip, I'll take my auto/cruise control/sanity lol

Haha
Lucky you.
I can't drive an auto.
I fall asleep.
I used to have 2 crown vics, and did whatever I could to remain awake, but still found myself dozing off on the trip from Boston To Worcester everyday.

I would be fine with the "cave" feel.
Or even if they just tied in some of the headliner color into the rest of the interior, seat inserts, door panel inserts etc.

Ha, I'm very capable at driving stick, I just choose not to. I also have a bad knee that doesn't quite like so much pedal work.
If my 68 Montego happened to be a stick it wouldn't have swayed me from buying it at all. I don't mind either way for a "fun" car. I just got a hell of a deal on it and it happened to be an auto.

I would agree with that, and I don't have a problem with dark headliners...
but they don't sell cars for me, someone who is particular about cars, they sell cars for Joan Q. Public, usual appliance-vehicle buyer. Maybe John in the case of a pickup truck, but a lot of cars/CUVs, and trends like this are probably geared toward female consumer focus group feedback. Most other guys probably don't care, and the few like us... don't statistically matter much.

My 2011 Silverado has a headliner/pillar the same color. Doesn't really bother me at all honestly.

It's like that in my current daily driver, an 07 Mercury Milan.
I guess, I just hoped for more from the more "Upscale" Pickup truck maker, GMC.

Actually, now that you've mentioned it and I've looked up at it, there are lots of finger prints on it. Luckily it is easy to clean.

I'm with you. To hell with the open feeling. I'm in a car, I would like to feel enclosed. If I wanted openness so bad I would get a sunroof or convertible. Might even be a good strategy to sell more sunroofs and convertibles.
